I regard each piece of jewellery I create as a sculpture in miniature…one that is unique, comfortable and enjoyable to wear.Quality is paramount: Quality in design and quality in workmanship. Superb Customer service is what we strive for. We treat customers the way we ourselves would want to be treated.
Michael first became interested in jewellery while working at Expo 67 where he often spent his lunch breaks watching and talking to a Lebanese master jeweller who demonstrated his craft. In 1971 he had the opportunity to apprentice for a jewellery company called Argentor. After a year and half there, he apprenticed and worked for Justin’s and then Continental Jewellery in Montreal. In his spare time he further developed his own skills. Michael started to work full time on his own in 1974, selling wholesale and to private clients. In 1975 he began doing craft shows.
In 1980-86 Michael and his wife, Paula, operated their own 1800 sq. ft craft gallery which represented about 200 crafts people from across Canada. This gave them the experience of seeing things from the retailer’s point of view.
In the early 1990’s Michael began selling his work to shops & galleries in the USA. He continued to participate in craft shows in Canada.
Michael designs & makes mostly rings, but also earring, pendants, brooches, pins and bracelets. He works with genuine precious and semi-precious stones.
He usually makes his originals in wax and uses the lost wax process of casting. Michael uses a variety of techniques for finishing the pieces & setting the stones.
Michael draws his design inspiration from a variety of sources such as shapes and forms in nature, industrial design, or random objects in his environment. Some designs highlight a stone’s qualities; others emphasize the sculptural nature of the metal.
Michael’s attention to detail and the techniques he uses, particularly in finishing each piece, showcase an exceptional product that has brought his customers back to his booth, time and again, ever since he began doing craft shows in 1975.
