Samantha Dewaele is a painter and printmaker living on Lake Simcoe. She holds a BA from the University of Guelph in Fine Arts and Literature and an MA in Literature at Lakehead University.
Samantha’s relief print series, titled The Paper Forest, is influenced by her Scandinavian heritage. Simple shapes and a limited colour palette bring animal and nature motifs to life. Inspired by her background in literature, these images evoke narratives of the natural world. Her printmaking work has been exhibited and sold across Ontario, including at the Baggage Building Arts Centre in Thunder Bay and the Orillia Museum of Art and History in Orillia. She currently lives just outside of Orillia and teaches painting and printmaking workshops.
